Dr. Mark B. Tischler, MD B ’78, has been awarded the 2009 Presidential Rank Award as a Distinguished Senior Professional from the Secretary of the Army.
Dr. Tischler is currently a research scientist with the U.S. Army. Most recently, “he led the development of key technologies that have fundamentally change the way that rotocraft control development is conducted.” For more information about Dr. Tischler and this award, click here

Space Flight Awareness (SFA) honoree John Mularski, MD B ’05, was honored recently by receiving a “tour of the Kennedy Space Center and viewed the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis.”
Mularski is an extravehicular activities task instructor and flight controller for Barrios Technology Ltd. He was recognized as a SFA honoree for his “efforts in developing procedures and timelines that the STS-131 crew will use to perform spacewalks while in orbit.” Read the news release

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the selection of Farnam Jahanian, Ph.D., to lead its computer science and information science and engineering division.
Jahanian is currently a professor and chair at the University of Michigan and he is also a co-founder of Arbor Networks, Inc. Read the full article about his appointment here
