Late last week the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the 2010 recipients of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards. The class of sixteen was chosen from 121 semifinalist, and two are Tau Beta Pi student members.
Isaac Odim, MN B 2011, is a senior running back at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He is a mechanical engineering major, corresponding secretary of the MN Beta chapter of Tau Beta Pi, a 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team, and “owns virtually all of UMD’s single-season and career rushing” and offensive categories.
Travis Nissley, PA H 2011, is a senior linebacker at Bucknell University. He is a mechanical engineering major, the 2009 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and a 2010 Bison team captain.
Each of the sixteen finalists will receive a postgraduate scholarship, and “one will be announced as the recipient of the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation.”

The Utah Beta Chapter at Brigham Young University was profiled for their second annual “Trick-or-Can” activity. Coordinated as a trick-or-treat event the day before Halloween, students collect and donate nonperishable foot items to the Provo Community Action Food Bank.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently detailed Villanova University’s College of Engineering instructional model.
