A new Biomechanics Laboratory for Injury Reduction and Rehabilitation will be established next year at the University of Maine thanks to a grant by the Maine Technology Institute.
According to the article, “the lab will develop products such as neuro-protective headgear that looks like a fashionable cap or headband, but actually serves as a lightweight helmet.”

George Washington University’s driving simulator laboratory was profiled, in an article, by The Washington Post.
Transportation safety students test driving distractions in a Buick Regal hooked up to computer simulators. Also, down the hall is the “shake table,” or earthquake simulator, where students replicate earthquakes and “engineering students test construction materials to see how they hold up under tremors of varying strength.”
