The University of Tulsa has announced the naming of the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering after Jeffrey J. McDougall, OK B ’84, president and principal owner of the JMA Energy Company.
MacDougall’s gift to Tulsa’s petroleum engineering school will allow for two endowments, research initiatives, and support of future advancement. Read the full announcement here

Cisco Systems, Inc., has announced that Mark D. Papermaster, TX A ’82, has been hired to head the “switching chip division” of Cisco.

Papermaster was most recently senior vice president of engineering at Apple. Read more about Papermaster and his new position at Cisco.

The Los Angeles Times covered two unique STEM related activities this past weekend in Pasadena. One was a regional semifinal of the 2010 Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology. The other was a Rubik’s Cube competition.
At the Siemens’ competition high school students presented their research to a panel of ten Caltech professors serving as judges. At the Rubik’s challenge, competitors of all ages raced against the clock using algorithms to solve the cube.
