The White House has announced the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers. The Presidential early career award is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

The U.S. Professors of the Year have been announced by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In all, 49 professors were recognized. Click here for full list
Three of this year’s professors are Tau Beta Pi members:
Scott M. Glenn (NY K ’78), Professor of marine and coastal sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Laurie S. McNeill (CO B ’94), Associate Professor, civil and environmental engineering at Utah State University.
Kenneth A. Walz (WI G ’04), Faculty, chemistry and engineering at Madison Area Technical College.

Clarkson University will host the fourth annual FIRST Championship Tournament this weekend. Friday is the high school FIRST Tech Challenge and Saturday is the middle school FIRST Lego League challenge.
