Washington State University has announced that Dr. Shane Brown, P.E. (OR A ’95), has received the NSF CAREER Award for his project “to better understand how practicing civil engineers learn engineering concepts.”
Dr. Brown plans to continue his research related to engineering education and will participate in the upcoming National Academy of Engineering’s Frontiers of Engineering Education program.” Read the full press release

Biomedical engineer Stephanie Willerth, Ph.D. (MA B ’03), is conducting research that is “significantly advancing the understanding of HIV and how to treat it.”

Students from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, continued their perennial winning ways at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) national conference this year.
The group received “first-place awards for the national Team Tech design contest, Outreach for a Large Section, and Membership Retention for a Larger Sections.” Also, current SWE president at Cal Poly, Stephanie Smith (CA M 2011), won the award for Scholarship. For more information,
