The Center for American Progress has published an article in support of the DREAM Act. According to the article, the Act would help address the shortage of engineers and scientists in the United States.

Calling engineers and scientists “the heroes of technological innovation,” statistics are given that show that the U.S. ranks 27th among the top 29 developed countries in bachelor’s degrees awarded to engineers and scientists.

Interestingly, Wired recently ran a post related to the “war for Tech Talent” in New York. Regardless of the high unemployment rate, over nine percent, the internet startup scene is creating a fight for engineers and programmers in the New York City area.

Maxine Ballen, founder, president, & CEO of the New Jersey Technology Council, recently wrote an article about the “brain drain” of women leaving the field of science and technology.

The most glaring statistic, from the National Center of Women & Information Technology, is that 41 percent of women leave technology companies after ten years, compared to only 17 percent of men.
