The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) has announced a new president has taken office for 2011. Deborah Boice, P.E., is set to become the first female president of SFPE.

Christopher Voigt, Ph.D. (MI G ’98), an associate professor at the University of California, San Francisco, has been highlighted for his work on genetically modified microbes.
The article in the Technology Review (MIT), discusses Voigt’s work on “software that automates the creation of ‘genetic circuits’ in microbes. His research group is working in partnership with Life Technologies.

A local television station, WKBN, in Ohio recently profiled three new engineering hires to work for V&M Star. All three hires are engineering graduates from Youngstown State University.
Each new engineering employee at V&M Star, located in Youngstown, OH, is interviewed. One of the new hires is Mike Yatsco, OH L ’09, a process engineer.
