Three engineering professors at Case Western Reserve University have recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for the design and development of a new capacitor.
Frank Merat, Ph.D., P.E. (OH A ’72), is one of the researchers involved with the new capacitor to be used in electric vehicles. Click here to read the article for more information related to the capacitor design that has a target date of three years to be ready for market use.

A new device is being developed that could eliminate the need for patients to visit an ophthalmologist to test themselves for glaucoma.
An engineer from the University of Arizona has been working on the device for four years. Currently, the device “gently rubs the eyelid to probe for symptoms of the disease.”

Dr. Brenner is assistant head of the nanobioscience “constellation” at CNSE, part of the University of Albany (NY). Part of her dedication to the field includes workshops with schoolchildren, being an ambassador lobbying for support, and developing nanotechnology safety as an international concern.
