Rajiv Datta, NJ B ’93, has been promoted to chief operating officer at AboveNet, Inc. Mr. Datta will oversee the company’s operations, sales, marketing, IT, product and engineering divisions.

He has been with AboveNet since 1998, and was previosuly with Alcatel. Read the press release

A new engineering chair at Texas A&M University, has been endowed by Mike and Sugar Barnes. Dr. W.M. Barnes, TX D ’64, is an alumnus of A&M and a 2001 retiree from Rockwell where he held several management positions.

The gift and Sugar and Mike Barnes Department Head Chair in Industrial and Systems Engineering “will be used for student support, faculty development, and research initiatives.” Click here to read the article

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute recently announced that Dr. Daniel Walczyk, NY B ’86, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

The ASME stated that Dr. Walczyk was recognized for his “significant contributions to the fields of rapid tooling, manufacturing processes, and biomedical device design.” Read the full news release for more information
