On Campus: Future, Present, & Past

The George Washington University (GW) has announced a new gift to the GW University School of Engineering and Applied Science from A. James Clark, MD B ’50.

Mr. Clark’s gift “will fund the A. James Clark Engineering Scholars program to recruit and graduate students who will become leaders in the engineering profession.” For more information on Mr. Clark and the GW Engineering School, click here.

In January, the Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers hosted their “Evening With Industry” banquet and announced the recipients of the 2011 Outstanding Women in Engineering and Technology Award.

This year there were five winners, including Laura Dearborn, CA M 2011. Dearborn is a senior at California Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, majoring in industrial engineering. Read the full news release

Dr. Duane S. Ellifritt, FL A ’57, is professor emeritus at the University of Florida and in 1985 he “envisioned a steel sculpture that would serve as a three-dimensional teaching model of the various ways that steel beam can be connected.”
