Tau Beta Pi regrets to announce the passing of Dr. Klaus D. Timmerhaus, CO B ’48. Dr. Timmerhaus spent 42 years at the University of Colorado at Boulder in various capacities.

He spent time as an associate dean of engineering, director of the Engineering Research Center, and as chairman of chemical engineering. Click here, to read the full obituary

Three mechanical engineers have won the Lewis F. Moody Award (ASME) for an outstanding original paper useful to the practice of mechanical engineering.

Two of the three recipients are from Utah State University: associate professor Barton L. Smith, Ph.D. (UT G ’90), and Benjamin Timmins, UT G ’09, collaborated on the paper. The subject of the paper is “a new method to estimate uncertainty in a specific type of flow measurement, termed particle image velocimetry.” Read the full news release
