Dr. Martin Hellman, NY E ’66, was one of three inductees recognized for the invention of public-key cryptography. Dr. Hellman is professor emeritus at Stanford University.
Steven J. Sasson, NY G ’72, for the invention of the first digital camera. He most recently works as part of Kodak’s Intellectual Property Transactions group.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has awarded Priscilla P. Nelson, PhD (NJ G ’79), the 2011 Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research. Read the full press release
Dr. Nelson was cited for her “visionary leadership in the development of innovative research and education programs.” Currently, she is a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). She served as the provost at NJIT from 2005-08.

Brown University has selected the inaugural dean of the School of Engineering. Lawrence E. Larson will be the first dean of Brown’s School of Engineering.
Larson will assume the position on July 1 and leave his current role as chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San-Diego. For more information, read the article
