The University of Kansas announced that Angela N. Oguna, KS A 2011, has received the Class of 1913 award. Given to a senior student at KU whose “devotion to studies and personal character give promise of usefulness to society.”

Ms. Oguna is from Nairobi, Kenya, has been awarded a Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, a Tau Beta Pi Scholarship, and recognition as an outstanding scholar at the 2009 National Society of Black Engineers. Read the press release

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported on the recent regional North Carolina Science Olympiad. This year’s event saw 400 students from Western North Carolina participate.
According to the article, this might be the last Olympiad in the Asheville region due to proposed state budget cuts. The science competition has been held since 1974.

Tuesday March 22, 2011, is World Water Day. To mark the occasion, Energy Collective will host a webinar of expert panelists to discuss the challenge of water supply resources.
