The team was founded in 1989 by a group of engineering students at Rutgers. In the last few years, the team has struggled to raise funds to support the development of their car in competitions where some foreign teams secure more than $100,000.

The hard work has paid off for team members with internship and jobs. A highlight for the team was its third place design finish in 2009, out of 120 teams.

Amanda Hanaway-Corrente, VT A ’05, has received the 2011 Young Engineer of the Year award from the Vermont Society of Professional Engineers. Read the announcement
Amanda is currently a project engineer at Utility Risk Management Corporation. She is active in several professional engineering societies and served as the 2009-10 president of the Vermont Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
