The Chronicle of Higher Education profiled nuclear reactors on college campuses across the country. According to the article, there is concern about safety with Japan’s current crisis, however the safety of nuclear reactors at campuses being inspected is good.
MIT has one of the most powerful research nuclear reactors, but David Moncton (NY D ’70), reactor director, says, “Most of these reactors have a long history of safe operation.”

Jim Maser (OH K ’83), president of Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, has been speaking to the House space subcommittee recently related to NASA developing a heavy-lift rocket.
