In late March the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) hosted their 38th Convention in St. Louis, MO.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the job fair that took place at the Convention was attended by top-drawer exhibitors and was an indication of the job options available to qualified attendees. Read the article for more information

The University of Pittsburgh is hosting the Engineering Sustainability 2011 Conference. This year’s Conference topics include, green building, sustainable urban drinking water, distributed power for the built environment, and more.

Dr. Gregory A. Keoleian, MI G ’87, is one of the featured speakers. He is currently co-director, and co-founder, of the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan.

The San Rafael Patch recently profiled Pixar Animation Studios senior scientist and head of the Research Group, Tony DeRose.

DeRose joined Pixar in 1995 before the release of “Toy Story” giving up his position as a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington.

According to the article, he has developed several technological advances in computer-animated movement and is involved in math and science education, focusing on trying “to make math and science more inspiring and more relevant.”
