Two graduate students from Georgia Tech (Savannah) were recently awarded fellowships from the 2011 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Read the press release

Brittany Bruder, NY A 2009, is pursuing her Ph.D. in civil engineering with research plans related to tidal streams as a renewable energy source.

Stephanie Smallegan, GA A 2012, is also majoring in civil engineering as she works on her graduate degree.

The New Jersey Institute of Technology has announced that the chair of NJIT’s Department of Engineering, Ronald H. Rockland, Ph.D. (NY E ’67), has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Dr. Rockland also serves as the Chief Advisor to the New Jersey Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at NJIT.

Research at MIT’s AgeLab is developing technologies to assist the growing number of the U.S. population above the age of 65.

In a recent article from The Christian Science Monitor, ‘telecargivers’ and other engineering innovations are profiled. According to the US Census Bureau 20 percent of the population in the United States will be 65 years or older by 2050.
