Last week the California Upsilon Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at California State University, Sacramento, hosted a Cleantech Mixer to promote science and mathematics and offer professional networking opportunities.
The U.S. Army highlighted the event and civil engineer Roger C. Henderson, OR A ’83, of the Army Corps of Engineers for attending. Henderson has been with the Corps since 1988. See more here

This weekend before the annual Blue-Gold spring football game at the University of Notre Dame, engineering students hosted their third annual Robotic Blue-Gold game. Read more and watch a video

Almost 1,000 fans were in attendance to watch the robots play an eight-on-eight match. One of the team’s coaches was James P. Schmiedeler, Ph.D. (IN G ’96), associate professor of engineering at UND.

The Shell Eco-marathon has announced the winners from the 2011 competition. Click here for the full list.
Winners included a team from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign taking first place in the alternative gasoline energy category and a team from The Lamar University awarded second place in the fuel cell/hydrogen category, achieving 29.3 mi/kWh.
