Idaho State University and the ISU Alumni Association have announced the winners of the 2011 Outstanding Student Awards. Read more here
This year 13 students were selected recognizing “outstanding seniors who have excelled in their programs, their extracurricular activities, and have generally epitomized ISU’s outstanding student body.”
Amanda E. Finkes, ID B 2010, was the recipient from the College of Science and Engineering. She is pursuing a graduate degree in nuclear engineering at ISU. She was previously president of the Idaho Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi and a TBP Scholar in 2009-10.

The deadline for submitting applications for the WISE Awards 2011 is May 31, 2011. This year’s Awards will “celebrate successful models and innovations from around the world within the theme Transforming Education: Investment, Innovation and Inclusion.
This is the third year of WISE Awards. “The WISE Awards are designed to identify, showcase and promote innovative educational projects from around the world. To date, 12 projects have been awarded out of more than 900 submissions from 110 countries. These ‘real world’ initiatives are progressively building a global community of educational innovators.”

A new online network of all U.S. electric vehicle (EV) charging stations is being developed through a partnership of Google Inc., the Energy Department, and several other private companies.
The EV stations will be tracked through GPS and other mapping services. The plan is for this network to make it easier for drivers of electric vehicles to recharge their cars. Read the full article for more information
