A new one-hour test for acute pancreatitis has been developed by a graduate student from The University of Texas at Austin.

The device can be constructed using only a cheap LED light, aluminum foil, gelatin, and milk protein. In all, the the test is no bigger than a quarter, costs less than a dollar, and needs no electricity. Click here to see how the test works

An assistant professor of biological and agricultural engineering at the University of California Davis has received a NSF CAREER grant to study cellulosic biofuels.

Tina Jeoh plans to “identify the mechanisms of enzymes produced by microorganisms.” Read the article for more about cellulosic biofuels, which are renewable alternatives to fossil fuels.
