On the Move: May 2011

Dr. Stephanie G. Adams, NE A ’89, has been named the new head of Virginia Tech’s engineering education department. She will begin on August 10th.Dr. Stephanie G. Adams

Currently, Dr. Adams is associate professor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. She also serves on the ASEE Board of Directors. Read the news article

SAE International has announced two recipients of the SAE Foundation Young Industry Leadership Award. The award will be presented Thursday, May 12, 2011, during SAE’s Annual Banquet. Read the press release

This year’s recipients are both Tau Bates, under the age of 35, “who have significant accomplishments and who show potential for significant leadership growth in industry.” Stacey M. (Haineault) Martin, LA G ’05, is a senior manufacturing engineer for General Motors. Jennifer C. Wheeler, TN B ’97, is a senior project engineer for AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette has recognized eight Outstanding Graduates eligible to be announced as the overall Outstanding Graduate of 2011.

Patrick L. Adams, LA D 2011, has been honored as one of the nominees. Adams is a mechanical engineering major with a 4.0 GPA, he is president of the LA Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, and was previously a TBP Scholar. Click here for more information
