Wired reports on a recent publication from Michael S. Strano, Ph.D. (NY R ’97), related to research his team is conducting using bee venom and a carbon rod to detect explosives.

Engineering students from LSU took part in work to produce a mechanical exoskeleton to help quadriplegics walk on their own as part of their senior design project.
The group of students, including Mark Korinek (LA A 2011), constructed a near working model during the school year and expect the next group of students to complete the design. For the full story, click here

Dr. Stefan M. Duma, TN A ’94, of the Virginia Tech-Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences is conducting simulation tests of current football helmets to determine which are the safest.
