Sutter recently turned 90 and was the chief engineer for the development of the Boeing 747. In 1985, he was awarded the United States Medal of Technology for contributions to the development of commercial jet aircraft.

Karl Brenkert Jr. (MS B ’44) passed away earlier this month. He got his Ph.D. at Stanford University. He served as Dean of Engineering at the University of Mississippi from 1964 to 1979.

In a recent news release, the University of Wyoming announced that Yifan Zhang, WY A 2012, has been selected as the Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Junior for 2011.

A petroleum engineering major, Zhang has been working during the summers in oil related areas. Last summer he worked as an intern at the Drilling Department of Shengli Oilfield in China. His future plans include a master’s degree with a focus on carbon dioxide sequestration.
