Internships, Opportunities, & More

NASA is offering fall and spring semester paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Internships are in a variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines as well as business and finance.

The deadline for fall semester NASA summer internship applications has been extended to May 31, 2011. Interested students can apply here

The Chronicle of Higher Education reported on the new Thiel Fellowships. Started by Peter Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal, the Fellowships award $100,000 to winners to not attend college for two years, and to develop business ideas instead.

This year there are 24 winners of the Thiel Fellowship, see the full list here. All of the Fellows are 20 years or younger, and several have an engineering pedigree.

Biomedical engineering major David Narrow, NY K 2012, has been selected to intern at the Julius Wolff Institute at Charite Hospital in Berlin, Germany.

A student at the University of Rochester, Narrow also is the recipient of a Portable Research Grant to cover expenses related to undergraduate research while working with a faculty sponsor. For more information, click here
