Leaders in Engineering: Present, Past, & Future

Curtis D. Gomulinski, MI E 2001, has been named the next Executive Director and Secretary-Treasurer of Tau Beta Pi. He will begin his new position on August 1, 2011.

Currently, Curt works for the University of Michigan as a Systems/Database Administrator. He serves as a District 7 Director and advisor for the MI Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Please join us in welcoming Curt and his wife, Tricia E. Gomulinski (SD A ’98).

William P. Clements Jr. (TX I ’39) passed away this weekend at the age of 94. Mr. Clements served two terms as Governor of Texas (1979-83 & 1987-91). He also was a founder of SEDCO, one of the world’s largest offshore drilling companies.

Mr. Clements served as deputy secretary of defense (1973-77) under President Richard M. Nixon. Current Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, said in a statement that Clements was “the father of the modern day Texas Republican Party…” Read the full obituary

Southern Illinois University at Carbondale senior Toni Whitfield, IL E 2010, was profiled for her academic and athletic career before the recent NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Regional competition.

Whitfield will compete in the javelin during her final collegiate athletic event. She graduated with a degree in civil engineering, is in graduate school, and hopes to work with the Federal Highway Administration. Read the article for more information
