The Ohio State University has announced a new Center for Aviation Studies to conduct research for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Center will be located at the OSU Airport and seven other universities will participate in the program, and NetJets will be a four-year sponsoring partner. Read the announcement article from The Columbus Dispatch

In late May on the return of the Russian Soyuz spacecraft, images were taken of the International Space Station and NASA’s Endeavor space shuttle.

According to NASA, these are “the first-ever photos of the station-shuttle complex captured by a departing craft.” For more images and information see here from NPR

The New York Times has profiled the design of a new hybrid electric plant. A joint venture between General Electric and eSolar will “use the solar power to make steam that will supplement the steam from the natural gas.”
The plant will be constructed in Karaman, Turkey this year and should be operational by 2015. Click here for more details on how the plant will work and the estimated 69 percent expected efficiency.
