Twenty-five local high school students are participating in the Brown-Forman INSPIRE summer enrichment program at the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering.
The workshop’s aim is to “open students eyes to career options in engineering.” The article highlights a young female student who is learning that her interests in biology and medicine, make engineering a great option.

De la Vega previously worked as a logistics officer in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan, where she received a Bronze Star. She’s found that as Ms. Latina, she gets more attention from the young girls when talking about engineering and math.
