Women in Engineering: Present & Future

The Marietta Daily Journal recently profiled Teresa Epple, the co-owner and president of the engineering consulting firm Southeastern Engineering, Inc. (Marietta, GA).

Twenty-five local high school students are participating in the Brown-Forman INSPIRE summer enrichment program at the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering.

The workshop’s aim is to “open students eyes to career options in engineering.” The article highlights a young female student who is learning that her interests in biology and medicine, make engineering a great option.

Valencia de la Vega is the reigning Ms. Latina World 2010. She is also an engineer and dedicated to encouraging young girls to seriously consider math, science, and engineering careers. Click to read the article

De la Vega previously worked as a logistics officer in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan, where she received a Bronze Star. She’s found that as Ms. Latina, she gets more attention from the young girls when talking about engineering and math.
