Vincent Sobash, P.E. (IL B ’77), has been named the Federal Engineer of the Year by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
As an emergency management program specialist for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Facilities Engineering Command, he spent part of 2010 “responding to the massive earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.” For more information, click here

The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has announced 85 young engineers that will take part in the 17th annual U.S. Frontiers of Engineering symposium. Read the press release
Participants are nominated by fellow engineers and selected based on their “performance of exceptional engineering research and technical work in industry, academia, and government.” Whitney G. Colella, Ph.D. (NJ D ’97), was among those chosen to participate in the symposium from September 19-21.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has named E. Terence Foster, Ph.D, P.E., as an associate director of the school of architectural engineering and construction.
Dr. Foster, MA B ’63, is currently a professor at UNL with more than “twenty years of experience as a senior corporate executive in the construction, logistics, and computer services industries.”
