Engineering Education & Competition

The International Submarine Races took place this week at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock Division in Bethesda, MD. The competition was hosted by the Foundation for Underwater Research and Education.

NBC Washington highlighted the event and one of the participating high school teams. In the article, Naval Service Warfare Center head engineer, Dan Dozier, says “What we’re really harvesting is the minds of these young kids that are going to be the future of the workforce here in the United States in the world, science, technology, engineering, and math.”

Laura Jeffrey Academy in Minnesota is the state’s first all-girl public school for fifth through eighth grades. The goal of the school is to “build the confidence of girls and push their interests in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through a year-round project-based model.”

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is hosting the 11th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies.
