Robert B. Johnson, S.E., P.E., recently received an award from Chicago’s Water Reclamation District Commissioner Frank Avila, “in recognition of exceptional leadership in educating our children in K-12 in engineering.”
Mr. Johnson, IL B ’69, is a structural engineer who has spent more than 20 years presenting lectures on engineering to K-12 students with several different outreach programs in Chicago. The presentation of the award was taped for television and is available online. Click here for more information

The Los Angeles Times recently profiled Dr. Walter Tamosaitis, PA I ’69, for his role in raising concerns about risks involved with a project to deal with millions of gallons of radioactive waste near Hanford (WA).
Most recently, Dr. Tamosaitis was manager of research and technology for URS Corp. The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board has publicly backed Tamosaitis’ concerns over the safety risk of the treatment project. Read the full article here
