In a recent article from the Business Insider, the history of engineers and scientists as CEOs is explored and conclusions are drawn about the success of engineers and scientists in successful start-ups.

Traced back to the 1950s, when Frederick E. Terman (CA G ’20) was dean of engineering and provost at Stanford University. His efforts to attract outside company investors led to what is now known as Silicon Valley.

Stanford University researchers have developed a fully transparent battery. Although the energy storage capabilities of the battery need to be improved, the innovation would allow for “transparent displays and other electronic devices.”

A partnership of Deeplocal, Parlee Cycles, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Toyota has produced a bicycle that can be controlled through a helmet.

The thought-controlled gears are operated with the helmet, which uses electrodes to read brain activity allowing the rider to shift gears with their mind.
