Developing New Engineering Skills & Ideas, August 2011

Crain’s Detroit Business recently reported on Wayne State University’s electric vehicle engineering master’s program.

The program targets those, young and old, interested in becoming electric vehicle engineers. The article profiles a few of the nearly 200 students in the program, including Kevin Snyder, TN A ’93.

Appledore Island (Maine) is profiled by the Sea Coast Online. Jointly run by Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire, the island offers summer internships, since 1966, in marine science.

Students that are accepted for the summer internship are engineers and must help produce everything from electricity to meals on the island. Click here, for more information and to see this summer’s assignments

Continuum and its co-founder, Gianfranco Zaccai, were highlighted by The Wall Street Journal for their efforts in engineering “new ideas for a health-care client.”

According to the article, Continuum is a consultancy company that designs new products and services. The company employs designers, engineers, MBAs, and artists to work together in the research and design of new products.
