Engineering Students: Making A Difference

Murphy is currently an intern at the Merck facility in Rahway, NJ. Her research involves “researching drugs that are insoluble…” Viola Acoff (AL G ’91), professor and head of metallurgical and materials engineering at UA, refers to Murphy “as the epitome of an outstanding engineering student.”

Tau Beta Pi chapters have been working through the summer to try and establish MindSET project activities with local school districts.

Students at California Psi, Idaho Gamma, Pennsylvania Beta, and a trio of chapters in the Boston, MA, area have been planning and coordinating for the fall semester. These chapters could always use the support of local alumni interested in making a difference in STEM education and the enhanced preparation of K-12 students.

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) has selected Alexander McCaskill, MO D 2012, to receive this year’s ASDSO Senior Undergraduate Scholarship.

McCaskill is majoring in civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has worked at The Judy Company, Inc., for the past year-and-a-half, on practical aspects of dam safety. Read the full announcement
