Engineering FYI, Part II, August 2011

A new study by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce has found that petroleum engineers have the highest median income of collegiate majors.

According to the article, the University of Central Florida has almost 6,000 undergraduate students enrolled in its College of Engineering and Computer Science, the fourth-highest enrolled college at the school.

Yahoo! News is reporting that NASA has entered into an agreement to create a line of science fiction novels to be called “NASA inspired Works of Fiction.”

A group of authors from the agreement plans to attend work shops at NASA’s Goddard Research Center to learn more about possible subject matter. Read the news article

While there does not appear to be a shortage of electrical engineers, companies in the Valley are competing for a much smaller pool of analog engineers responsible for designing “the chips required to make high-speed digital communication possible.”
