The College of Engineering at Texas A&M University has announced faculty members in the Zachary Department of Civil Engineering have been appointed to endowed positions. Read the news release

Dr. H. Gene Hawkins Jr., P.E. (TX D ’81), has been appointed as the Williams Brothers Construction Company Development Professor I. He also heads the Transportation and Materials Division and holds a join appointment as a research engineer with the Texas Transportation Institute and serves as an associate director of the Southwest Region University Transportation Center.

Tau Beta Pi has learned of the passing of professor Gary Dean Herrin. He joined the faculty in the Department of Industrial and Operation Engineering at the University of Michigan in 1973.

Dr. Herrin, MI G ’69, served as an advisor to the Michigan Gamma chapter of Tau Beta Pi from 2008-2011.

Lauren M. Panasewicz, WA D ’09, has been hired by CRW Engineering Group as a staff engineer “to assist in designing rural Alaska water and sanitation improvements.”
