President Obama announced yesterday 94 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, “the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stage of their independent research careers.”
There were eight Tau Bates that received the recognition, including: Dr. Katherine E. Aidala (CT A ’01); Dr. Michael J. Escuti (PA Z ’97); and Dr. Andre D. Taylor (MI G ’04).

Earlier this month Robert C. Carlson, NY D ’62, passed away. Carlson spent more than four decades as a professor in the school of engineering at Stanford University.
According to his obituary, Carlson considered being a recipient of the prestigious Stanford School of Engineering Tau Beta Pi Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching as one of his proudest achievements.
