Laura Barito, NJ A 2011, was selected this weekend as the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year. She is a two-time NCAA national champion and a recent mechanical engineering graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology. Read more here

Barito competed in swimming and track and field at Stevens. She said, “it (the award) definitely puts together everything that I’ve been striving to do for, not even the last four years, but my entire life.”

According to Alcatel-Lucent’s Bell Labs website, Dennis Ritchie has passed away at the age of 70.
Ritchie was a computer scientist “who wrote the popular C programming language and helped develop the Unix operating system.” Read the full obituary from the Los Angeles Times.
