Oregon State University has announced the selection of Scott A. Ashford, OR A ’83, as interim dean of OSU’s College of Engineering.

Most recently Dr. Ashford was head of the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at OSU. He is also a professor at OSU. Click here to read the press release

In a recent paper published in Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, University of Maine professor Mohsen Shahinpoor, Ph.D., P.E., details his creation of a robotic Venus Flytrap.

According to an article, Dr. Shahinpoor, NY Q ’66, used ionic polymeric metal composite, a nanomaterial he previously invented, “to recreate the sensing and closing abilities of the Venus Flytrap.”

Valparaiso University celebrated the opening of the new Donald V. Fites Engineering Innovation Center this past weekend.

The new center will have a manufacturing center, a project lab, and senior design and energy systems suites for undergraduate engineering students. Learn more
