NASA has announced the appointment of Dr. Mason Peck as the next NASA chief technologist. He will begin working in January 2012.

Currently, Dr. Peck is an associate professor of engineering at Cornell University. At NASA, he “will be responsible for advising the space agency on the societal benefits of NASA’s in-house technologies.” Read the announcement

The Conference in Dallas, TX, was the 16th Annual event to recognize women in the STEM fields.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently profiled George Mason University adjunct professor of engineering, Michael Young for his work as a volunteer pilot as part of the Pilots N Paws pet-rescue group.

Mr. Young has completed more than 20 rescue flights taking dogs from “high-kill” shelters to pet rescue agencies.” Read the article
