This past Saturday across the United States there were FIRST LEGO League regional competitions. From Mississippi to Colorado, K-12 students competed with their LEGO robots performing novel tasks.

In a recent press release, the LSU College of Engineering profiled the Louisiana Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Louisiana State University as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Founded on November 30, 1936, LA Alpha has initiated 3,491 Tau Beta Pi members. Chapter president Mitchell Feigley, LA A 2012, discusses the benefits of having a Tau Beta Pi chapter on campus, “Since membership is only open to upperclassmen ranked in the top of their class, recruiters from industry actively pursue our members. Having a Tau Beta Pi chapter at LSU encourages engineering students to do their best so that they can be invited to join this prestigious honor society.”

The Brownsville Herald (TX) published a story about NASA engineer Rogerio Rojas visiting his former grade school, Faulk Middle School, to speak with students about achieving their goals and increasing interest in STEM disciplines.

Mr. Rojas took the time to visit with all three grade levels individually, and showed video of NASA astronauts training. Mr. Rojas is a flight dynamics officer at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Read the article
