In September of this year, Dr. Dade William Moeller passed away at the age of 84. Dr. Moeller, GA A ’47, spent 26 years teaching at Harvard University and held the position of Professor Emeritus at the time of his death.
He also founded Dade Moeller & Associates in 1994 with his son Matt, who is currently CEO. Click here to read the full obituary to learn more about Dr. Moeller who was “the preeminent scientist and educator in the fields of health physics and environmental health” throughout his career.

Thanks to the generous support of his family and friends, a new memorial scholarship has been permanently endowed in honor of John E. McCue at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
McCue was an engineer at Kiewit and an alumnus of UNL. The annual scholarship will support nontraditional students with financial need. The first recipient of the scholarship was recently announced. Read the press release

This week NASA announced that it is accepting applications for the next class of the Astronaut Candidate Program. The deadline to submit applications is January 27, 2012.
According to the news announcement, “successful applicants frequently have significant qualifications in engineering or science; or extensive experience flying high-performance jet aircraft. Educators teaching kindergarten through 12th grade with these minimum degree requirements also are encouraged to apply.”
