The Rhodes Trust has announced the American Rhodes Scholars for 2012. This year’s class included 32 students to study at Oxford beginning in October.

Katherine E. Niehaus, CA G 2010, was among the 2012 class of Rhodes Scholars. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in biomechanical engineering from Stanford University. She plans on studying systems approaches to biomedical sciences at Oxford.

Chloe E. Dedic, IA A 2012, was one of nine women honored last week as Iowa Women of Innovation by the Technology Association of Iowa. Read the article

Dedic received a scholarship recognizing her work studying pollutant formation in devices used for clean power generation, which helped the Iowa State University’s mechanical engineering department secure a NSF grant.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago awarded Robert B. Johnson, P.E., the 2010 Excellence in Educating Our Children in Engineering Award.

In a short video, Mr. Johnson, IL B ’69, discuses educating children about engineering with Frank Avila, commissioner of the Metropolitan Water District.
