Two students at Lafayette College have been named the 2011-12 Maroon Club Scholar-Athletes. The award annually recognizes “students who display exemplary skills in the classroom and on the field of competition.”
Michael Y. Thompson, PA E 2012, received the male award. He is a civil engineering major, Goldwater Scholarship recipient, and 2010 second team All-Patriot League selection as a pole vaulter. Read more

The San Jose Mercury News profiled computer engineers/scientists taking part in a creative writing group at Google. Two of the engineers compose daily poetry, while a third writes science fiction.
According to the article, the skills used for software engineering lend themselves to creative writing as well.
