The Centre Daily Times is reporting that Dr. Karen A. Thole, TX A ’91, will be recognized this week as part of the White House Champions of Change program.
Dr. Thole is department head of mechanical and nuclear engineering and a professor at Penn State University. She “will be recognized for her work to recruit and retain women” in the STEM disciplines. Read the announcement

Texas Tech was the first university in the United States to offer a doctorate in wind science. Dr. Andrew Swift, TX Q ’68, established the program at TTU. Dr. Swift now works with the Texas Wind Energy Institute.
