The Kansas Board of Regents has announced a new grant for three Kansas universities “aimed at increasing the number of engineering graduates in Kansas.”

Kansas University, Kansas State University, and Wichita State University will receive state gambling revenue to recruit and retain engineering students. Click here for the announcement

The Long Beach Post is reporting that the California State University, Long Beach and its College of Education has received a National Science Foundation grant for “a collaborative research project that will focus on increasing women’s interest and retention in computer science and engineering.”

U.S. Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado announced a new bill this week to “create a new green card category for foreign students pursuing advanced degrees in STEM disciplines.”

According to the article, the bill is aimed at preventing “the brain drain” of foreign students who are in the country legally on student visas.
