Several news outlets are reporting that Cornell University has been chosen to create a new applied-engineering campus in New York City on Roosevelt Island. For more information, read this article from The New York Times

Last week it was announced that Stanford University had dropped out of the competition. New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, MD A ’64, “hopes the new engineering school will make the city a world leader in computer engineering and transform the city’s economy.”

U.S. News & World Report recently published a list of 12 scholarships for Hispanic students interested in STEM.

In a recent news release, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) announced the recipient of the Max Jakob Memorial Award.

The Award is given “for eminent scholarly achievement and distinguished service in the area of heat transfer. This year’s winner is Amir Faghri, Ph.D., a professor of engineering at the University of Connecticut.
