The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) has announced the election of six new members of its Board of Directors.
Two of the new directors are also Tau Bates, including the new Vice Chairman, Thomas A. Schwartz, P.E. (MA D ’73). Schwartz is currently senior principal, president and head of the building technology group at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. Dr. Steven M. Cramer, P.E. (WI A ’79), was also elected to the ASTM International Board of Directors. Dr. Cramer is associate dean for academic affairs and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Advisor & Source Newspapers are reporting that three organizations are partnering together “to offer scholarships for Oakland University (MI) students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering or math.
The name of the partnership is the Product Lifecycle Management Scholarship Program. The goal of the Program “is to provide 32 four-year scholarships for students seeking careers in industrial and systems engineering and mechanical engineering.” Read the article

Since 2007, an astrophysicist and an applied economist have been working together researching and devising a new calendar.
