The University of Wyoming has announced that two papers co-authored by engineering professors and their graduate students, have been recognized as two of the top downloaded papers in the IEEE Sensors Journal.

Dr. Cameron Wright, P.E. (LA G ’83), and Dr. Steven Barrett, P.E. (CO Z ’79), were the co-principle investigators on the papers related to the “development of analog vision sensors inspired by the common housefly.” Read the news announcement for more information on the papers and the graduate students, including Geoffrey P. This week Oakland University (MI), announced an anonymous gift that is “the largest single planned and cash gift from an individual in (school) history.” The School of Engineering and Computer Science is one of the academic entities where the gift will be used to “enhance the student academic experience.” Click here, to read more

Researchers in Singapore have been using “a miniature robot with a pincer and a hook that can remove early-stage stomach cancers without leaving any scars.” Surgeons control the robot, which enters the patient through the mouth, on an endoscope.
