This week engineers at Sandia National Laboratories announced the design of a bullet that “directs itself like a tiny guided missile.” According to the article, the .50-caliber bullets can reach speeds of 2,400 feet per second.

The goal is for the bullets to be used in military machine guns. More research will be needed before the bullet can be brought to the market.

The Province (Vancouver, CA) recently profiled KleenSpeed Technologies Inc. located in offices at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field (CA). KleenSpeed develops electric race vehicles with an eye on entering the electric vehicle market. The EV-X11 developed by KleenSpeed is the fastest electric race car with speeds of more than 260 km/h. It is also zero-emissions.

Beginning in April 2011, E la Carte has been launched at restaurants in the United States. The “company develops a tableside tablet for the restaurant and related hospitality industries.” Features of the tablets include a credit card reader, a games section, and a full-day of battery life.
